Tim and Jenny's Orkney Website     

We are privileged to be among those who have been able to settle in Orkney and make it our home.  

This has been made possible by advances in Information Technology and the creation of the World Wide Web. The result of this technological phenomenon has given rise to the telecommuter and allows us to live and work remotely.

My wife is a lawyer working in legal publishing as a copy editor. I am an IT systems manager. Until August 1998 we both commuted from Ely to London to our respective jobs. We travelled 150 miles per day or the equivalent of 2.5 times around the earth in a year.

Jenny then secured a contract as an out-worker from her company. That change of contract gave us the ability realise our dream of leaving the rat race.

We were able to re-locate to Orkney, our favourite holiday destination to live out the rest of our years. We even ended up buying a house in which we had actually spent a self-catering holiday!
